Painful Memories

The sky clouded over and the porcelain flecked crimson

I heard the clatter, the sigh and I knew

In my head I repeated that it was no-one’s fault

This was just how you dealt with things

But I can’t help feeling responsible for you

Nobody wants to be the one to cause the final cut

It’s possessiveness at its best it pushes us apart

I wish you could see what it does to the ones who watch

Make you witness the love that surrounds you at all times

But that wouldn’t be fair, it’s sick of me to even think

To be the one to take that sweet relief from you

But I can’t stand it, staring helplessly is not what I do

So forgive me for closing the door on you.
