Hard System

They tell you to work for things

From the tiny digit of five

That hard work is duly rewarded

And effort is marked on a sliding scale

But they neglected to tell us that

The world isn’t always run as simply

As you are when you’re a wee child

That privilege plays a card

And usually it’s an ace or king

That it helps to know the bigger guys

Stop fighting for the underdogs

Keep quiet and leave the new ground alone

Better not to leave your zone

And sticking together in times of trouble

Usually leaves you cold and alone

Yes they forget to tell you that hard work only provides

If you have an easy job.
