Travel Companion

I really feel like we connect on a personal level

Same books and unconnected to a ringing phone

I feel that like me you prefer face to face

That conversations cannot all be done on a screen

I could be completely mistaken, embarrassingly so

Which becomes clear when you face-time your lover

I’m sorry I presumed this to be some sort of

Fairy-tale romance enacted only in a dream world

Just goes to show that first impressions mean nothing

So in my mind we’ll go back to being perfect strangers

Side by side on the train to the unknown.
